Maintaining PERMALITE® aluminium products

PERMALITE® aluminium products are produced from 5251 / 5052 Marine grade aluminium alloy entirely. No coatings are required to enhance the performance or durability of the product. The inline painting and rollforming of PERMALITE® Aluminium building products conducted in accordance with strict quality control guidelines. As a result, there are minimal maintenance requirements for the PERMALITE® range.

In accordance with normal building maintenance, we would recommend the following be considered –

  1. Inspection frequency and type
Conduct a yearly visual inspection of the roof surface to identify any accumulated debris or detritus.
  2. Recommended access
That access to the roof be conducted in accordance with relevant Australian Safety regulations and standards and that particular attention be given to our recommendations in Section1.14 of the PERMALITE® Aluminium Roofing Solutions Manual.
  3. Recommended method of cleaning
Whilst there is no specific requirement for cleaning PERMALITE® cladding, to enhance the life span of the paint finishes, cleaning should be conducted as per BlueScope’s TB4 Maintenance of COLORBOND® steel, with cleaning conducted yearly in unwashed areas.
  4. Recommended method of repair
As noted above the durability of PERMALITE® cladding is based on the use of Marine Grade aluminium alloys and is not reliant on coatings. Any minor scratches or dents to the sheet are of aesthetic concern only and will have no impact on the durability of the sheeting. Any roof sheeting damaged to the point of puncture should be replaced and installed in accordance with our recommendations in of the PERMALITE® Aluminium Roofing Solutions Manual.
