Making waves at Hillary’s Beach Club with PERMALITE®

HilarysBeachClub.1

Situated on the golden sands of Perth’s Pinnaroo Point, Hillary’s Beach Club has made a splash as one of the coast’s top spots to dine, unwind, and enjoy the view.

Having opened its doors in December 2023, this sprawling 1400 sqm venue boasts a multi-level setup with dining areas, a shoreline kiosk, and unbeatable Indian Ocean views, Hillary’s brings some fresh air to beachside venues.

Shore thing: PERMALITE® for coastal conditions

The prime, ocean-front location demanded consideration of more than aesthetics. The materials needed to stand up to salt spray, strong winds, and coastal wear.

PERMALITE® LT7® in Glacier White ™ was chosen for its high corrosion resistance and effortless style. Used for both roofing and walling, the LT7® profile provided the perfect mix of durability and sleek looks, delivering a clean, modern aesthetic that blends gracefully with the beach backdrop.

“It was just the perfect product for the location. You know, the aluminium LT7® was just the right product for the location. It was a marriage made in heaven, you might say,” Tom Houston from Crown Roofing noted.

Beyond durability, Darryn Rampono, PERMALITE® National BDM, said LT7® was the natural choice for several reasons:

“It was a good product because of the 25-year warranty to perforation. It was the ease of installation for the contractors. It was a quickly timed thing that it was a pretty standard, popular colour for us. We had all the stock, in relation to the fasteners.”

Smooth sailing with Lysaght

From on-site visits to coordination of materials, Lysaght provided support across the large-scale installation, which covered 2300 square metres and represented a major investment in quality materials tailored for coastal resilience.

“There are a lot of moving parts to it... with fasteners needing to be painted, delivered to meet the contractors working schedule and timelines,” Darryn said. “Any issues they had, whether minimal or massive, we were always there to support them.”

Tom agreed Lysaght’s proactive approach minimised delays and kept the work aligned with technical specifications.

“The Lysaght team was with us every step, making sure our timelines were met—even coordinating tens of thousands of screws with custom paint to match.”

A hub by the sea

With a 500-person capacity, the club provides a perfect setting for family outings, special events, or simply enjoying the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Joondalup Councillor Christine Hamilton-Prime told Perth Now the club is “a stunning hospitality offering that activates our spectacular coastline,” recognising its impact on the area’s appeal and accessibility.

SPH Architects + Interiors, the creative minds behind the club’s design, have also earmarked PERMALITE® materials for future projects, inspired by their durability and performance in Hillarys’ challenging coastal conditions.

As both a community asset and a showcase of resilient design, Hillarys Beach Club sets a new standard for coastal architecture and gathering spaces in Western Australia.

Durability meets coastal grace

The Hillarys Beach Club project demonstrates how choosing the right materials enables structures to thrive in both form and function. The club is a community asset that proves resilience and style can go hand in hand, further elevating Perth’s already renowned coastal appeal.
